Anni’s choice of a running mate is a shrewd one!

In this blog, a few days ago, I advocated that Dr. Waheed would be a good choice for a running mate of either Hassan Saeed or Mohamed Nasheed (Anni). Please refer to the article http://clubescapemaldives.blogspot.com/2008/09/dr-waheed-factor-and-dr-munawwars.html

Dr. Hassan overlooked that suggestion and selected his close friend Dr. Shaheed as his running mate. As I mentioned in my blog, Dr. Shaheed is a capable leader, but I still maintain that it’s not a shrewd choice as Dr. Hassan’s running mate. I’m glad that Anni saw the sense in my suggestion and selected Dr. Waheed as Anni’s presidential running mate. Despite some of his shortcomings, I assume that Dr. Waheed will bring a lot of charisma into Anni’s presidential bid.

I’m not saying that Dr. Waheed is perfect. Nor am I saying that Anni is perfect. In fact I have posted some very damning and critical articles about Anni; just as I have posted some articles praising Anni. These are changing times and we should not be ashamed to speak our minds frankly. In doing so, you may praise someone whom you have criticised earlier.

As I have repeated many times in the blog, the three leaders who can help save us from Gayyoom are Anni, Hassan and Ibra. I have recently added the name of Dr. Waheed to this list. It’s good to see that two of these four are now at least in one team.

I was also pleased to hear Anni say that, if elected as President, he will convert Theemuge as the headquarters of the Maldives University. I’m sure Anni would be the first person to acknowledge that this idea of converting Theemuge as a university was first floated by this humble writer some years ago. Dr. Hassan and Anni have both said that, if elected, they will not reside at Theemuge. It’s nice that some of our leaders are listening to our voices.

Bushry. Looks like Anni is the only person who is following your advice. Why don't you endorse Anni-Dr Waheed? Dr Hassan and Dr Shaheed doesn't seem to sense that they have to form a coalition with others. Ibra is also thinking of doing this alone. Furthermore, Dr Shaheed is tainted as a liar. There is no way Dr Shaheed can be sold to the public.

Waheed comes and Waheed goes... he is proven to be power hungry rather then serving the nation. WTF Anni.. you let us down again.

People why are we so concerned about people, their charisma, character? Where is the place for issues? Anni is incoherent on his issues.

Stupid remark - Waheed come and go.
It's hollow and has no meaning.

    Please talk some sense.

I wonder why some people are blaming Dr.Hassan for praising Maumoon when he was AG.

What would a lamb do when he finds a wolf in sheeps clothing? How can the sheep escape unharmed without a little bit of praising for the wolf?

Well! I have some personal experience of Dr.Hassan trying to spend from his own pocket to a drug addict! This is not a joke.

As far as i can see I am very much convinced that he accepted Maumoon's offer for AG, because Saeed genuinely wanted to make things better for all the Maldivians. If he was unsincere, why should he present important bills to the Majlis, passing and adopting of which will only benefit the common man?

If Saeed did not resign from the government as AG, we would not have seen the wave of resignations that followed. Earlier it was the culture of Maumoon's ministers to keep prostrating to him even if he slays you bit by bit, tolerating all the injustices and closing their eyes infront of Maumoon even if he commits day-light-robbery, splashing curry to whatever rice Maumoon cooked legally or illegally.

For me Hassan is an unblemished peal in Maldivian politics.

So far I have not seen any convincing excuses for not voting for Hassan and Shaheed. Yes, not to mention the clumsy tit for tat stones being thrown by Adam Zahir, claims which I believe are directed towards Hassan out of desperation and confusion.

So you know to whom my vote goes.

First of all, I cannot see any way to sell Anni to the south. His past experiences will not count since Dr Hassan is contesting. Secondly, Maldivians prefer someone who knows religion, and not someone who unkowingly says "maai amuraai iraadhufulhu" as in bible. In this context, people would vote for Dr Hassan. Finally, swing voters in DRP and MDP will also vote for Dr Hassan. It is always good to back an opposition candidate, better to back someone good, best to back someone who can be easily sold.

If Maumoon Wins this elections again, it is not because he commands a majority. It would be because of a hopelessly divided opposition.

And guess who is contributing most to the fragmentation of the opposition. It is Dr. Hassan.

He will be the Ralph Nader this time.

Anni & Gasim are dividing the opposition to favour Gayyoom

Gasim is our only hope. Though he is uneducated I think it's wise to give the reins of presidency to him to clear up Maumoon's mess. From the candidates he's the only one who has the know how, the vision and experience to dig us out of this hell hole. But I fear Anni will win, mainly because he's been at it for a long time (campaigning against Maumoon)and he did prove himself to the public in the past (yet he's lost a lot of voters this year due to his lack of morality and greed for power). Gasim, on the other hand had had only a couple of months to campaign and hasn't been able to convince the public that he is the saviour. But still, I am voting for Gasim whatever happens.

  14. Its true that Dr waheed came and went..but he only did his " come nad go" to this country. he came to Maldives...went back.. however we did not see him "come n go" to maumoons government. Day one..he rejected maumoon and his polices..so does he now.
After all it really is and will be a shrewd decision.
