Himeyn Ingilaab or Himeyn Conspiracy?

“Himeyn ingilaab” was a reformist website that made a significant contribution in the concerted effort to oust dictator Gayyoom from power last month. But since the election of Nasheed as the new president, “Himeyn ingilaab” seems to have changed its tone. Criticizing the new government isn’t a problem. In fact we should all criticize President Nasheed and his new government in areas that warrant criticism. But “Himeyn ingilaab” seems to be purposely publishing even false propaganda to achieve a hidden agenda.

The website (http://himeyn-ingilaab.com/) now seems to have become the mouthpiece of politicians such as Umar Naseer, Ibra and even DRP. We at this blog criticize the new government too but we have no agenda to oust the new government and install a new regime with some hidden agenda. Sadly the same cannot be said about “Himeyn ingilaab”.

In fact Himeyn ingilaab now seems to have become a “Himeyn Conspiracy” or “Silent Conspiracy”! The protest by DRP and Umar Naseer to prevent the extension of the resort leases for 50 years is an example of political cynicism. DRP was in favour of such an extension when Gayyoom was in power. Now that DRP is in opposition they are pretending to be the saviors of the public interest by portraying Umar Naseer as Robin Hood!

Himeyn Ingilaab seems to have sold their soul to a secret agenda. Their latest story is calling for Jumhooree Party to win a majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections in February. Can anyone smell a rat?

I am regular reader of the website and I hope that the editors and mangers of the website review their policies and stop this rot. No one is calling for a halt to the criticisms of the new government. But we should realize that we just ended 30 years of brutal dictatorship. Gayyoom left the country’s economy in ruins. We should give the new government some time and breathing space before we pass judgment. My personal belief is that the new government will need at least one to two years before they can turn the economy around and before we start seeing real benefits seeping into our lives. So, how about stopping this Himeyn Conspiracy and continue the Himeyn Ingilaab?

  2. Keep it up Umar Naseer. The 50 year lease should not be allowed to pass in the parliament (Specially with out any public participation in resort ownership to distribute the wealth fairly amongst the populace)

Increasing the lease period to a few bunch of rich wont do any good to the Economy. If Anni or the Finance Minister dosent know any other mean to raise funds to the state budget. Then let us know it. We can tell you 101 ways to raise funds.

Keep it up Umar Naseer, I may even vote for you in the parliamentary elections if you pressure the Government to abandon the 50 year lease increase

  3. Look who is talking Bush ree..... What was it that you were up to when you were married to the regime before? What happened to the attempts to change your scholarship using the power the you had in the 90's when you were married to the regime? What happened to the 'wathanee' thoughts when you were supposedly teaching in Addu and you used your power to stay in Male' instead??? My my my.....don't we all have our own little agendas at whatever cost??? I think we all have it in us... can put it down to the fish we eat. Let's not call each other names when we know we all have faults. You are no saint and neither are we. So just smell your own ratty breath first!

I hope you do have the guts to post this cos the last time i addressed this issue you were not very democratic....but turned out to be a Golhaa!

  9. Do we have to silence anything thats critical or opposes Government polities.

Dont attack the Meadia or the opposition.

Thats one of the most important function of a democracy. If you want you gan give us the merits of leasing out resorts for 50 years.

  10. Bushry,
when i started reading this article, i thought "OMG... has Bushry become Anni's puppet.."
Then i remembered a comment u made one day saying that your 'love' is your country and u'll strive to get the best deal for your love.
Bushry, those lines were very touching and it honestly touched the bottom of my heart and i thought .. 'Now we r desperate, we've suffered so much in Gayyoom's hands and donno if we can trust the present government, but if Bushry is the guy he claims to be.. we can depend on him'
These were my real thoughts that day..
And now after reading this article, again i'm not too sure..
Bushry, can we really depend on u to be an honest and unbiased journalist who'd try to get the best deal for his 'LOVE'?

  11. I think the heated debated on resort lease extension have become EVEN. When the previous government proposed the extension, the new government, then the opposition opposed the idea. And we now see is the vice-vasa..so the reality is that new government and the oppositions do want the bill be passed as has been proposed.

AND GIVING MAJORITY TO PA AND DRP COALIATION WILL HAVE SAME EFFECTS.

HENCE VOTES SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED AMONG, MDP, JUMHOORY, HASSAN PARTY, MONAZA, IBRA PARTY ADHALATH IF WE DONT WANT TO GIVE IT SINGLY TO MDP.

NEVE EVER GIVE DRP PA MAJORITY IF YOU WANT CLEAN UP THE PAST 30 YEAR CORRUPTION AND SAVE INDEPENDANT INSTITUTIONS FROM STUPID DUMMIES OF DRP.

  14. Bush is trying to be politically correct.

    The perfect example was:

When the 50 year lease bill was brought to the Majlis floor, No one of the so called MP's had the gut to advocate on behalf of the people; the only one who spoke was that Lolly Jabir, the joker proposed to increase the lease period to 99 years.

The silence in the Majlis proved only one thing, these MP's were sold out to Businessmen of Jumhooree Party and other resort owners.

Whether MDP or not, dont elect anyone to the Parliament; who is in resort business or anyone associated with resort owners. Everyone of them is sold out to rowners.

Like them Bushry is also silent on the matter.

    ReplyDelete
  15. bushry, please put your love for the nation before mdp and anni. whoever does it -- whether mdp's anni or drp's maumoon -- extending the lease of these resorts to another 15 or 20 years is simply WRONG!! Here are 3 reasons. 1) the market prices of these resorts have increased so much over the past years and extending the lease periods without an increase in the rents would mean giving up lots of money which we could use to improve the infrastructure of our islands. 2) these resorts were not actually won in a fair and free bidding system, but given away to maumoon's loyalists. 3. usually an investor in the resort development can recover the whole investment in 3-5 years given the occupancy rate of these resorts. So, don't you think it would be best for our people and this government to open new bids for these resorts at the market price?

  17. This is supposed to be a free democracy. And people have their right to express their own opinion. Even if it is to support Umar Naseer to become the President. What's the problem here? It's not "smelling a rat" if Himeyn Ingilaabu is calling Jumhooree to win the Majlis Election or for that matter if someone calls or promotes or supports even Umar Nasee's party to win the majlis election.

DRP and Maumoon thought in the past that the government was their personal property. Is MDP thinking the same now? Or are MDP supporters thinking the same? Grow up and stop whining.

  19. it seems to me that Umar is making tricks to sell him into political spectrum. Umar the intellectually inferior guy is gaining the ground in the politics after his attempts to sell the religious sentiments that failed him with one percent voters support. we must do what ever it is necessary to keep people like Umar at bay. if he wins the presidency, he is gonna turn this country into a mess. he would crush and crunch every back bone of this nation. look at his agenda, mixing capitalism and religion which can not be mixed like oil and water are two phases that exist in ambient situations.

1st Child: No. Not that. For the blood test, they cut my finger.

Anni for gad sake make sense to increase the revenue before you appoint one more executive to the government. We don't need 10,000 employees to govern 300,000 people. 37. The 50 year lease bill is a big nightmare for the Government.

The bill is bringing down the government and MDP.

The question is it worth to pass this bill at the expense of public support for the Government of MDP?

The longer the issue stays the more damage it will cause to MDP's popularity.

Why dont you first debate the issue at a public forum like the Minivan Bahusu (Debate). This way people have a way to express and get more information about the issue and make an informed decision about the issue. And MDP wont have to sacrifice your popularity.

Like before Gayooms DRP sucks as the ruling party and they sucks as the opposition.

Where is the Opposition to protect the public interest from the bad policies of MDP. I think Ibra and Hassan Saeed should sideline from the Government and give the opposition a voice.

MDP be clear on the issue of 50 year lease and abandon the bill as soon as possible, otherwise you will just loose supporters. Admitting to a mistake wont cost you nothing but doing it will cost you hell of a lot supporters.

We should also note that, this bill could be an advantage to Republican Party and Hasan Saeeds Party and DRP. They could easily switch support if the public is not supporting the bill. They will ultimately point the finger at MDP and blam them for bringing the bill. A vote lost to MDP is a vote gained by Republicans/Hassan Saeeds party.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @anony mice
to the point mate. looks like MDP gonna make this mistake that could easily bring an end to this govt.
lets see how this nighmare unfolds..

    ReplyDelete
  39. It should also be noted that.

If the lease bill fails or passed by the parliament, its a win win situation for Republican Party (inclusive of Adalath and MNC) and DRP (inclusive of PA) and Hassan saeeds Party. The coalition parties will stay silent on the matter, as they see themselves as the real winners weather the bill gets passed or on.

Their party heads and their sponsors have a major interest in the tourism industry as resort Owners.

    Few possible scenarios:

If the bill gets passed - they get 50 additional years of lease at negligible additional cost.

I the bill gets passed - the coalition will back stab MDP for being such sold out to resort owners... and they will propose their comprehensive plan to include the public in resort ownership.

If the bill fails - they will get support of the opponents, their votes, and a chuck of MDP members. ( The reason will be for saving public interest in a rogue deal made by MDP to appease resort owners).

Its urgent to clear the matter as soon as possible. MDP, abandon the bill and work on the interest of Public.

  51. Is funny that when someone constructively criticize the government, it becomes a conspiracy. Why? It's bias, right!

How many of your listen to majlis these days. If you objectively assess, Yameen is the best speaker - balanced, objective, academically sound, economically excellent. He made several solid arguments regarding budget. He said that it was the mistakes of the past two years that created the economic mess that we are in today. In fact, he was pointing to the fact that Gasim artificialy inflated the budget for short term glory when the country cannot sustain such a budget. He also said today that we borrowing, within the means available, is not an issue. However, he was making a case against borrowing for spending, not investing. To borrow to invest is fine.

Some of us are so blinded by our bias, that if someone point the positives of the previous government, at its people, we get irritated. It is as if, only "good" is with us - Maumoon and anyone associated with him are evil. However, people like Gasim, Shaheed, and Hassan, who went the extra mile to defend Gayoom, and say things such as "DRP will be the only civil party in the Maldives", when they join the anti-Gayoom side they become "good" overnight. The fact is that what they did good when with Gayoom, or now with Nasheed, should be good. Good and bad are not exclusive rights of any.

Over thirty years, Gayoom build this nation. We were very poor, very under-developed, and had not place in the world. Today, we are respected in the world community. We have highest per capita income in the region. We have achieved universal access to primary education, and universalized primary health care. Although some of us are so bias that we cannot appreciate such achievements, UNESCO and WHO, Woldbank and the ADB appreciates the achievements made by Gayoom's Government.

Its time that we learnt to see a lemon for a lemon. A monkey for a monkey. A tuna for a tuna. Its time we become honest with ourselves. Some of the best people are in DRP. Gayoom was an exceptionally educated and displined man. Yes, he did wrong. He was hash. Too hash with political opponents. He could not change the prison system. He could not stop the drug trade. That is why he had to go. We accept those facts too.

Now is the time, though, to look positive. Learn to comment honestly. Himen Ingilaab is doing just that. That's democracy.

Readers please not, Gasim did not join MDP because he love Democracy or wanted change. I can tell you that he personally met Gayoom to form a coalition with DRP after the first round of voting was over. But being self assured Gayoom rejected the offer thinking that he could easily win the election. That's why Gasim and his sidekicks formed the coalition with MDP. Because he had no other choice.

We were never happy about MDP joining the Republican party. Good that finally they will be kicked out of the Government and the MDP coalition.

Get lost Gasim. Do you want us to open corruption charges against you for breaking the environmental laws of the country or denying the Government from receiving revenue 5 years from your closed resort Fun Island.

We dont have any credibility that they will actually do what they speak of in the parliament.

First tyhey have to build a reputation by serving the public, instead of creating commotion.

Any one can give a good speech about a sentimental issue like 50 lease rent. But its a different thing to do the job. And he was not capable to do that in the previous government. So the reputation sticks, he is not a capable person to serve the public, to speak on behalf of the public.

  65. See the article on Hiymein Ingilaab...

As they say, what ever agreement is made between any coalition parties its null and void. It wont carry any weight in a court of law. Any agreement between the parties to the governance will contradict the powers given to the president under the constitution.

  67. Shucks! These Himeyn Ingilabis are simply childish. What’s all this clutter about?

If you guys are promoting Maumoon’s acts of gruesome cruelity over the citizens of Maldives, or if you are promoting Farish Maumoon to be another “ruler” of Maldives in a sly and disguised manner you guys are doing the job well eventhough at times you are making it way too clear. 2013 is not far and you guys are twisting and turning the mechanisms involved without much deliberation too often making it quite obvious who you are and the underlying “Evil Axis” plan of your mission.

But we have witnessed with our very own eyes Maumoon’s 30 years of brutal dictatorship where our own sons and daughters have been cold-bloodedly murdered. Besides, you guys will surely know how many were announced simply as “escaped from jail” and how many would have gone unannounced. But the difference is we have the evidence, so you guys cannot escape the truth. We know how Maumoon had taken law and order into his own hands echoing Bismark’s remark, “I am the state”.

For how many years did Maumoon refuse to ammend the constitution for his own benefit? And don’t try to mislead us into beleiving that we had a Peoples Majlis where the members were exercising their rights for the benefit of the nation. The Majlis was indeed a rubber-stamp and Maumoon had waited long enough to bring forth the constitution into the Majlis up until he was able to get his cronies in its seats. By then he had made it certain that election was rather a selection, his own.

And talking of his justice system and the way cases were conducted, are we to believe now that all those were fair trials where the citizen’s right was fully upheld as per even the constitution then & the Law of God above all.

Nay, it might be hard to believe but we are a people who are making the best citizens of our country, the hardworking, sincere and devoted citizens of our country turn criminals and thieves just because those who have an upper hand in the land falls into a conflict of interest with them out of greed and inequity.

Today, we are able to express ourselves freely, but how was this freedom won and who was leading this movement from the late eightees. My dear Ingilabis, it might be hard for you guys to believe but the man behind it all was the very person you are now targeting, none other than the current president Mr. Mohamed Nasheed. You might feel a litte bit jittered but we have seen all these with our very own eyes and this will become the history of this nation. Indeed, it is this Nasheed who will be honoured as the father of democracy of this nation, no one else is eligible. Those who claim to be are all his followers. We have seen none but him who was committed from the very beginning to the true cause irrespective of the risks involved.

I believe that he will definitely listen to the nation at large and will decide everything to the benefit of this nation and we have our confidence in him. We also believe that he will fully abide by the constitution. There might be certain things we do not understand at the beginning but we all will come to know the truth of it, some on their own accord and some when explanations are offered for easy comprehension.

I believe that as a nation, we are obliged to assist him in every possible way to govern this country but ofcourse those with secret and hidden agendas cannot accept fact as facts.

    002.014
When they meet those who believe, they say: “We believe;” but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: “We are really with you: We (were) only jesting.”
    002.015
Allah will throw back their mockery on them, and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (To and fro).
    002.016
These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,
    002.017
Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see.
    002.018
Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path)
