In a press conference that ended a few minutes ago, Jumhoree Alliance’s presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim has endorsed Anni as there preferred candidate in the second round of the presidential election. The two Deputy Leaders of Jumhoree Party (Jabir and ADK-Nashid) also spoke glowingly about MDP’s candidate. Adhaalath Party’s leader (Sheikh Hussain Rasheed) also gave his support to an alliance that will back Anni in the second round of voting.
Few days ago, Dr. Hassan Saeed and Ibrahim Ismail who were both candidates in the election, threw their support behind Anni. This shows that currently seven major parties and eleven prominent reformist leaders are on one side (MDP), whereas Gayyoom just has his half-brother Yamin and himself.
The seven parties (or associations) that are now behind Anni are as follows:
1. Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)
2. Gaumee Iththihaadh
3. New Maldives Movement
4. Jumhooree Party
5. Adhaalath Party
6. Maldivian National Congress
7. Social Liberal Party
The fourteen prominent reformist leaders who are now united are as follows:
1. Mohamed Nasheed (Anni)
2. Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik
3. Dr. Hassan Saeed
4. Dr. Shaheed
5. Dr. Jameel
6. Gasim Ibrahim
7. Jabir
8. (ADK) Nashid
9. Sheikh Hussain Rasheed
10. (Monaza) Naeem
11. Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra)
12. Shaheed Zaki
13. Mohamed Shihab
14. Mohamed Ibrahim (Moddy)
As testimony to this united front, all the above parties and all the above leaders (in unison with many other reformist leaders and ordinary reformist members) are holding a meeting at the Artificial Beach tonight at 9pm.
DRP is suddenly organizing some sort of ad hock meeting near the same location. This could be a deliberate attempt by DRP to create conflict and violence in order to discredit the opposition. MDP and all the united parties should think about this point very seriously.
Gayyoom and Yamin and Abdullah Hameed (the three brothers who are the axis of evil in this country) should leave us alone. We the people of this country do not need them. Let’s all unite behind the MDP-Iththihaadh and give our presidency to Anni-Hassan-Gasim-SheikhHussain-Ibra! It will insha Allah be a new dawn.
Why is Umar Naseer telling his relatives and supporters not to vote for MDP Ittihad candidate Anni.
ReplyDeleteIs he trying to make a deal with Gayoom.
Lets forget about DRP and who supports DRP and concetrate on the reformists and getting rid of dictator
ReplyDeleteGood news, Alhmadhlillaahi.
ReplyDeleteThis time it will be a victory for Maldives an its people.Insha Allah.
Lets all pray and work harder and harder and harder.
This is time for change! But dont under estimate PA (Yameen's Parteys,) They will distribute black money to all over the country. Now they are communicating some gangs.
ReplyDeleteBeaware all voters, it will be a very difficult task to beat the dictators 30 year old rule.
ReplyDeleteDo everything you can to educate the voters, tell your relatives in the islands not to vote for gayoom, Ask DRP voters to put the country & democracy first instead of Dictator Gayoom.
Its a huge task, everyone be involved in the MDP ittihad Campaign to get more votes so we all can have a better Maldives and to stop our resources and money being stolen by Gayooms family.
Do you in your right mind think we can beat Qayyoom.Pls give him the credit where its due.I dont belive the curse we have fallen is bcos of him.Its bcos of this greedy politicians.First everyone thought they can be the president n now they know where they r when compared to big man.We r the shit islanders n we will decide who will rule this nation not a handful of phds claiming they r superior.
ReplyDeleteIts true that seven parties and eleven reformists are on MDP side...yet it'd be the worst calculation to sat that whereas Gayyoom just has his half-brother Yamin and himself.
ReplyDeleteReason is very simple. Maumoon has his 30 years of rule behind him. Simply because he ruled more like a dictator is no excuse for us to believe that he will not get support enough to gain a 50+ in this second round.
Personally I do believe that; should anyone deserve to compete Maumoon this time, it'd be Maumoon especially after he gained the highest support among oppositions. Yet, it is no reason for me to reveal the truth that many still are unable to digest the reality that this skinny guy(Anni) also can lead our nation. So Maumoon has the successful change of people's faith towards him wich could give him a comparative advantage. however, still there is chance to win though its very narrow.
Anni was right! Why is gayoom the secularist is trying to embed the idea to spreading Christianity in Maldives. He is repeating this over and over again so that the people will think it is okay to have another religion in this country. (specially the young people)
ReplyDeleteSo at last the die has been cast!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks as if its all over for Mr. Maumoon.
How fickle the human mind is!
I dread whats in store for the Maldives.
May Allah Preserve this Country - Its 100% Muslims.
There are some people still missing!!!

ReplyDeleteAmong 'the eleven prominent reformist' you have included Jabir, Qasim, ADK etc..
ReplyDeleteSo I guess everyone serving in prisons are also reformists, if they are likely to oppose Maumoon.
Some of those guys u mentioned are lucky to be out of prison.
This time you got it wrong mate. I think hating people is ok but with the hate one should not abandon his common sense.
Hahahaha. You think Gasim, ADK, Lolly Jabir and Hussain Rasheed are reformists? I suggest you read what you wrote in this blog earlier. You sound very similar to these politicians. Gasim said Anni failed in every task he tried and accused of trying to build a temple in Maldives. Now the same Gasim says that was past. Anni accused Hassan Saeed of covering up Hussain Solah's murder but now Anni wants Hassan to be involved in his government. I could go on forever.
