Stop patronizing us (and start doing your duty) Mr. President!

President Nasheed and his government now seem to be preoccupied with giving all sorts of allowances, pensions, residences, etc. to ex-president (the dictator) Gayyoom. Nasheed has given special security from the MNDF to Gayyoom (in apparent contravention to the constitution). Now the President’s Office has released a statement saying that the President does not encourage the public to play songs that tell the story of Gayyoom’s brutality and corruption!

Just because Nasheed got the presidency and a fat salary and a lot of prestige, he seems to have forgotten Gayyoom’s brutality. Does that mean that Evan Naseem’s mother will forget the pain of losing a son? Does that mean that Hussain Salah’s family will forget the distorted and tortured face of their son and brother? Does that mean that (Backbone) Mahir will regain the strength of his spine?

Just because Nasheed has now got the presidency, does that mean that someone will now come and give us back that USD 80 million that Zaki said that Gayyoom stole from us? Why isn’t Zaki talking about that USD 80 million now? Is it because that was an election ploy that he used to get votes?

When Nasheed wanted he and his campaign staff were able to call names to the so-called “Golhaabo”! Now that he has got the presidency he is taking the so-called moral high ground and asking us to respect Gayyoom, not call him names and give him hundreds of thousands of Rufiyaa every month from the state coffers!

We are MDP members. We voted for Nasheed. We will remain as MDP members. But just because Nasheed can sit in the comfy surroundings of the President’s Office while a cool breeze embrace him, while zillions of aids serve his every wish, please don’t patronize those of us who have suffered the brutality of the old dictator. No one is saying that we should harm him unjustly. No one is saying that we should call him names unjustly. But please don’t patronize us Mr. Nasheed.

It will be a slap on our collective faces if you (and the parliament that your coalition government controls) pass a bill giving all the luxury and financial packages and protection to a dictator who destroyed our lives and plundered a nation. We are not asking him to be jailed or punished. But at least ask the man to own up to his crimes and ask for our forgiveness specifically before you pass this patronizing bill!

Your government has brought about great changes and we trust you will continue along those lines to bring better development and prosperity and fairness to this nation. So we are 100% behind you on that. But please stop giving undue protection and undue grants and undue respect to a man who so-nearly killed you and actually killed many Maldivian sons like us! We can forgive Gayyoom as long as he owns up to his crimes instead of acting like an innocent victim of some political activists. Please trim-down the “fat bill” proposed by Gayyoom’s “second-lady” Aneesa.

Nasir took our money and fled! Gayyoom took so much from us and is daring to live amongst us as if nothing happened! And you expect us to play along and pretend that Gayyoom was our saviour and our hero and the father of democracy and all that gibberish?

  2. Here's a message to this so-called "Oppose Anni" group on the blogosphere.
For your iformation we don't "Oppose Anni", so change your misleading name before you expect any sane person to get behind your cause. We voted for Anni and we belive he emans to do a lot of good; but if he strays from the straight path we are perfectly willing to criticise him. So, for the record we want to say: We don't "oppose" anni!

  3. Good post Bushry! Only in this blog you can now adays find any article like this. Pls don't let Anni turn in to Maumoon. Anni is a good person who fought for justice, but if we let him do whatever he wants and keep our mouth shut, WE are no different than Maumoons redicule fans..
Anni please stop pampering the foregone Maumoon. Like you said, we need to concentrate on our future. You said you do not want to go for witch hunt, but you did not say that you will fo the otherway around i.e give maumoon everything he wants. We agree with you on not going for a witch hunt and who ever wants justice can file cases, BUT do not agree with you on your priorities set on Maumoon previledges.
Pls act responsibly before you lose support. Don't put a mask and be too nice to Maumoon. You know how you feel deep inside.

  4. totally agree with you bushry but...
it may not be a good idea to make filthy songs about him as its not harming him only but our little kids as well.
half the donkeys in the parliment are so corrupt and they all want to be the good guy infront of the public.
the longer Anni takes to get rid of these donkeys behind him he will suffer the same sickness as gayoom.
bro we know how fast power and n greed for this world corrupts the minds.
May Allah save this nation from people with sick minds..

  5. Yo! Brother Bushry. Great article. This time spot on. Right on the money!

Sorry I could not drop a couple of comments later on. My mobile EDGE connection from villigilli was too darn slow (and too expensive) to get back at all those clowns trying to outsmart me!!! What dumb asses. Dhiraagu, get this WiMax project on the way and get us better connected. Good to be back in Male' and a decent connection.

Some ppl were questioning my problem with the Ran'du Saeed and gang. That's not going to change and I will always criticize these Maumoon sympathizers (when they had it going) and then once they fell from grace became the opposite. Traitors to the people and to Maumoon too. We do not need two-faced actors like these. And you asked why the repetitions? Why? Because you retards are two dumb to understand when something is said once. Hukutu Huthubaa anyone?

I just don't understand why Anni wants to go all soft and protect this traitor Gayoom. Banish the bastard. Feed him to the sharks. Just try to honor all of us who voted you in. And before too long sack these coalition morons from the government. Give some stupid excuse, but pls do it ASAP. This silly diplomacy of yours is going too far! Next time I'll campaign to get Umar Naseer in otherwise kekeke ;)

Oh an Bushry, if I were Aneesa (she sure is an eyesore on TV every night btw) I'll sue your ass to kingdom come for calling me "second lady"! Nothing less than First Lady will do.

Rightfully Maumoon should be given one economy class one-way ticket to some 3rd world country and that's it - and then pass a bill to get the bastard deported or some shit so that he can never come back to Maldives.

  7. Comments on the two graphical images on this post

Evan Naseem: This opposition media make it seem as if Maumoonu just woke up one day and decided 'Yipee,I am feeling great today.Lets kill Evan Naseem today'.
But nobody dares to question the real root problem which is why are so many youth living in jail? What are their parents doing about it?

This is like the news anaysis of Palestine-Israel conflict. For them,it seems everything started when a palestine boy threw a stone at an Israeli soldier.

Hussein Solah : The level of initial attention given to the dead body and how soon the issue was forgotten, when it became clear that they could not cash in on the dead corpse,is one of the most amazing story.Adhaalath party also played a stunt by spinning two contradictory fatwas and doing 'ghaiba kashu namaadhu' by travelling all the way to Addu

  10. Very true, anonymous 13:56 - i used to follow that bloke Simons blog as well. but too dumb to read anymore. guys too self centered and i'm holier than thou to really talk about real issues.

bushry's doing a much better job. give or take a couple of stupid posts. and this island kid sure makes the comment area lively. i think this is the one blog with the most comments now. some really good ones too.

    keep it up bushry.

  11. Hey hey now the parents are at fault for sending the youth to jail.

The only problem with the parents is that, they did not steal enough money from the state coffers so that they could send their children (now dead) to abroad for studies.

Instead they choose to earn MRf 3500 and live in a single room in cramped conditions, as gayoom said they have land in houses and land in their islands, why at all come to Male'.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bushry great whatever…..And that Island Kid so much of a genius. An Einstein and a Mahatma Gandhi combined.

Also and that island kid, so intelligent and cunning and a new Macbeth.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with you Bushry. And also, i think HEP Nasheed should not delay any further in implementing the rules & regulations. (the law of this country)

We should not pardon prisoners for the crimes they committed. They should serve their sentences accordingly. Then only the crime rate would come down as well as the Justice System would work as we wish to.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey, guys, be nice. All Bushry is trying to do is make the Maldives a better place for the general Island Kid. I applaud him for this.

... so long as he stays away from religious fanaticism.

He's trying to explain to the brain dead retards that there is such a thing as public accountability and that Anni is not above the law. Much less, Maumoon deserve to be banged for all the crimes he committed in the past - rather than be paraded as a champion of democracy (which is total hogwash)

It's such a shame we have a pathetic excuse of a parliament now. Such corruption you hardly see anywhere else. I'd urge all voting age Maldivians to steer clear of any Majlis candidate who is even slightly affiliated with a businessman. That's wishful thinking though, with a population less than 300K.

You guys are so shallow at times. Ever heard of education, universal right & wrong? Check it out. Food for the soul!

  21. Maumoonu's fault for giving a land to Sheikh hussein rasheed

    ReplyDelete
  22. I saw that Anonymous. Hehehe!

When you think about it Abu Jahal was not such a bad dude. He was just trying to preserve his way of life. Same as Qasim, lolly Jabir, Gayyoom, the Adhaalath guys, and a whole lot of others in this country. So you find fault with him, same as I find fault with Gayooms way of life.

As for Darwin, well, we used to study his theories in school in Male' before it was thrown out by someone. But I think I like the over monkey-man relationship. With your mentality I can only agree that you guys are related to monkeys. Monkey brains!!!

It is his 30 yrs of ruling which has to be responsible for this MESS. gee

  25. Hasn’t it occurred to you that WE VOTED FOR CHANGE?

What you and some of your readers seem to suggest is to copy-cat exactly how “ a president Gayoom” would have run the show if the roles were reversed between President Nasheed and Mr. Gayoom. – That would not be “change”; - that for which President Nasheed got a clear mandate.

Alhamdulillahi! The Adalath scholars seem to have a fairly positive influence on President Nasheed already. I think, the President has accepted the fact …. That Allah Will not change the conditions of a people until they change themselves ----

Looks as if President Nasheed has allowed himself to be convinced that good manners, and equitable justice; taught to us by our beloved prophet –sal, does not substitute for political expediency. President Nasheed must have been convinced that Islamic justice requires that --- matters as important as accusing people of murder, theft, and in effect any wrong-doing requires hard evidence that would have to stand up in the - ultimate court of law.

Maybe, he is examining the evidence. Give the President time. We are overjoyed that President Nasheed is proving to be a lover of good advice.

It’s also said in your post …. “..We are not asking him to be jailed or punished.” -- I cannot understand this at all. If any citizen of Maldives commits murder and theft, then under the law, he is answerable and if convicted should be punished. Any citizen Ahmed, Citizen Ali or Citizen Haw’wa is no different to citizen Maumoon before the law.

IN PASSING --- Comment @ 12.26 - the use of the phrase “straight path” is noted. It’s heartening to see that real changes are in the air……..

Pls correct me if I’m wrong. May Allah Bless you dear brothers and sisters in Islam

  29. Sister Jasmine is a terrorist who wants all Maldivians to go back to the age of the companions and live in tents and wear camel skins. How else does she support the Adhaalath "scholars". I think it's really good manners to ignore 30 years of atrocities and let loose a murderous traitor to the people such as Maumoon. President Naseem must be taking basic health classes from his Adhaalath coalition members. Fantastic "Aneh Dhivehiraajje" this is turning out to be.

  34. My comment is about your photo: This is the second pic i see. The first one the people who died in some well near the market. Maldivians are such hypocrites. Wheres the respect for a dead body. Its not being given on any level. Can people just shoot pictures at such a close range without any remorse and respect. How can people be allowed to act like this. The government, a name used for the interests at the top is always looking for their own. Selfish &*^%@%$&%$%!!!!!!!
People individually should change before expecting anyone else to change. Easy to put everything on anni's shoulder...as it was done for maumoon.plsssssss......

  35. Anonymous, it's called critism. Something you do when you do not see what is promised being implemented. It's not about bringing down someone. But if it does come to it, that has to be done as well. The sooner the better.

We have a bigger mandate than Anni alone - it's called the peoples of the Maldives. Faqeeru Nikamethin. The Island Kids of the nation who suffer day and night. Do you even listen to the news and see those stories where people's houses just coming down flat because of rains, winds & erosion. Anyone in this government helping them so far?

Morons never learn or listen, do you?

Need I remind you that I did mention that I was fully happy with what I have. Not lacking in the basic necessities. I AM Happy. But there are thousands to whom huge promises were made and we are trying to see that it does work out that way.

Need I also remind you that this mess is going in this direction because of a fck of a coalition that has been put in place? And I have reason to believe that Anni is messing this up - until otherwise proven and these chaotic, money mongering characters thrown out.

  41. You guys will never be satisfied. Look at the fast changes Anni is bringing to things, what more do you guys want. Do you see corruption in Government offices now? NO...not any more. Petrol price has fallen all time low, need more? Price of house rent has started falling...want more? Male' is safer place to live now, want more?

We are really in Anne Dhivehi Raajje. We love you so much Anni, you are the true hero of maldives, we maldivians deserve to shower you with rose petals. Our hero you will always be Sir.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anni brought petrol prices down? Heheheh. Did you know that within the last 2 months crude has come down from USD160 to USD52 (today). While in male’ the price of petrol is MRF8.50, its still around MRF 15/- for the Island Kid. And as for rent ... people do not have money to pay huge rents. So the landowners bring down the prices as well. And that is a good thing??? Partly yes, but overall it means people are becoming poorer! Hehehe.

Crime ... during the last couple of days more crime has been prevalent than in the last few months.

Corruption … yeah, too many crooks in the government to allow any one individual to steal all the money. Or maybe there is nothing in the coffers to steal from. Hmmm… that is a good thing I suppose.

Where do you guys get these ideas from? Never follow what happens in the Maldives or the world? Ever?

  43. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POINT TO CONSIDER: Our new Defence Minister (Amin Fasial) is a heavy drinker. He drinks openly in front of hie children. His eldest son (Mohamed Amin) who now studies at grade 8 is witness to this. Every night when Amin Faisal carries the bottles to his drinking-room, his son tells the boy's mother (Amin's wife): "Mirey mee bodu re eh!". On such nights, Amin will openly beat his wife in front of his son and other two children.
Amin dovorced his wife (Iku) and made his son a witness ("Aharen ge firihen dharifulhu heki koh kaley vari koffin"! He divorced her 8 days before he became a minsiter and married his drinking-buddy (MDP-activist-Shehey).
Amin is a dirty-drinking-thug who beats his wife regularly.
How can we trust our national security to such a man who is half the time drunk!
He may sell our national-security secrtes for a few cartons of vodka too!

    ReplyDelete
  44. good point about drinking bro.

  46. Is there any possibility in the new constitution that ex-presidents could become the president without having an election? I think we should give a second chance to our ex-presidents like Maumoon. We all learn by mistakes and vow not make the same mistake again. I think Maumoon deserve a second chance more than anything.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's an atrocious idea Anonymous. George Bush and a book on Islam. Hehehe.

But seriously, why do you guys always bring religious into this? Things CAN work out really well without stupid philosophical nonsense as well u know.

And if you guys seriously believe Ameen Faisal is a heavy drinker and a wife beater, get some photos. Pretty easy these days with mobile phones and ant-eye camera lenses. Discredit the bastard with these. Will work in this community. But do get the hard proof. I know nothing about him, so I’d not write something based on a rumor. However I also agree that probably the majority of the Majlis members are alcohol consumers. This I know for a fact as I work very closely with some of them. Thing is I have no problem with that, so long as they do what is needed for the betterment of the people.

I take a lot of criticism because I leave matters or state and religion as two separate entities that cannot muddle up one or the other. But guess your self righteous people are too “good” to accept a concept such as this.

Maumoon himself was a very bad Islamic leader and you lot followed him like he was the savior of all mankind. But when I come up with a little bit of controversy you ask for my head. Now that IS unfair. Bummer!

  57. Well, at least Anni seem to think MRf 150K as a prez salary is too big. I just hope he's somehow not already duped the Majlis members to still pass that bill and he gets to take it either way.

Day by day he's becoming a real politician, from the clean activist that he used to be.

And the Maumoon regime crook Dr. Jameel suddenly became an expert on Info Tech. Must have had some good IT sessions while doing law. And what do you know? He even stated the obvious saying that Info Tech will make things so much practical & easier for the general public. Jee! We never knew that before. Hats off to this guy! 59. Everyone seem to think housing is a real issue in Male'. Too expensive and the conditions are really bad. 15, 20 ppl in one room. The whining never seem to stop.

Am watching this Rajje Miadhu program and this Human Rights guy says its more hiyfaseyha in the islands than in Male' anyway.

Hmmm ... can I as such humbly request everyone whose got a home in the other atolls to stop paying rent to Male' landowners and leave. I'm seriously getting fed up of seeing strangers (all shapes, sizes, pleasant & unpleasant looking) near my house all the time. That is in addition to all these foul smelling Indians and Banglas.

I saw somewhere along the line that there was a law during Nasirs time to get some kinda visa to come and stay in Male' for a long time. Can someone explain to me how this worked back then?

I'm sure this will work wonders today in this situation. For some reason people just come and don't want to leave this "hellhole" but argue that things are terrible in Male' too.

Now before you start I would not want to go an stay in your atoll anyways so that's settled. I kinda like my own hole in Male, thank you very much.

Some ppl might find this idea repulsive, but think objectively and with an open mind before opening your mouth.

Nobody really wants to leav their home nd pay rents jus for fun.Its education, health or any other facilities that are not available within their atolls that they come to seek here. So this visa thing wont be the real solution here.

  67. So Maumoon was the bastard who started congesting the Male' Island as well. Crook! Did he not do anything correct?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yes,Maumoonu did everything wrong.Prior to 1978 Maldives was an oil rich country. All citizens were living in their own islands. Each island had several hospitals, universities, airports.ButMaumoonu comes and destroys every thing.

As for Islam, prior to 1978 all women in Maldives were wearing buruqaa.Plus even the Arabs were coming to Maldives to study Islam in places such as university of Naifaru which housed about 100,000 students..Maumoonu comes to power and destroys everything and replaced with churches

  69. Jee, this is one dangerous dude this Maumoon. And we had oil? Seriously? Petrol? Kerosene? Which ones? I went to Naifaru once. Did'nt see any universities there. Must have missed the old building huh? Will ask next time.

  72. Bushry,you are one hell of a demented,twisted bastard!
You may not have realised all of your ambitions, but that's the way of life.At least your political MDP-related ambitions have been fulfilled in the manner that it was destined to be fulfilled.MDP needed the "iththihaadh" for them to win this-that was the ONLY way they could have/did win,So grow up & deal with it.Look at MDP-I'm sure there's plenty that would like to undo/change,but they are making the best of the cards that fate had dealt them with.Learn from your party & STOP YOUR PATHETIC WHINING.Psychologically I realise this must be so traumatic for you-suddenly feeling COMPLETELY USELESS now that the main aspirations have become reality. You've got you party into office [although wrapped in the unwanted package called "iththihaadh"],your Anni is president now. He's busy trying to reform his image-that of a magumathee bulhaa gandu-into some shining knight in armour. While you know that your words will not do him any permanent harm,it really projects your image as a complete idiot.Don't feel so bad-put your pen to better use.Take a vacation off Maldives politics because whether you like/accept it or not,it doesnt need or want you in it!You are just an insignificant dot on a large-scale agenda.Minions like you become outdated quickly.Your day has gone-your need is done&like it or not,you are HISTORY.Anni & co doesn't need the likes of u & Sappe anymore to spread dirty slander about Gayoom.Anni is a smart opportunist-he is not silly enough to waste his time with the petty stuff like yesterday. He deals with today, this moment. He hasn't got the temperament to babysit & listen to all the woes of self-acclaimed journalists whose only skills are cooking up good scandals.
When Maldivians do an about-turn,they really do it 360 degrees, don't they?I mean come on,who would have thought we would live to see a day when an unholy alliance of a bunch of thugs & crooks, blessed by the new Islamic cult of sainthood would oneday rule over us?The ingrained respect that we feel for "verin" was once considered an endearing treat of a respectable culture. But today,we have all made a mockery of those ideals that we held so dear. Our petty materialism & "kick" of the new&unknown over the old&trusted got the better of our values. It was fuelled further by a host of advanced cheating skills, psychology&terrorism. It is a sad day indeed when old&helpless parents in remote islands are ordered by the children [who themselves are slaves to their rich employers]to vote for a certain someone, threatening to cut off all support otherwise.I'm not blaming them-they are only protecting their livelihood.Conscience doesn't feed an empty stomach.
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is NOT a thief. He is NOT a killer. He definitely is a practising sunni-muslim.He most certainly was NOT a dictator.Sometimes,I wonder just how many of us knows what the term means."Dictator" is not equivalent to being in power for 30 years! Why are we so ready to overlook that he was voted into office each term by us fellow Maldivians. We entrusted him to govern us simply because we trusted him.Not all of us are politically ambitious. Most of us are wrapped up in our own lives, constantly trying to finds ways&means of bettering it.We felt comfortable with the knowledge that our country was in good hands, thus we were free to pursue our own personal dreams.Honestly people, consider the inborn nature of the average Maldivian. Are we really complacent, reticent&backward people? Are we so stupid to be fooled by one man for that long?Look back into our history-despite the venerated position bestowed on "verin",we have never taken conatant abuse lying down. There have been instances when we have been quite brutal in our "dispostion" of power-abusers.Oh yes there was dissent-it is the same everywhere in the world. There would always be people who are unhappy with the "existing system" & also those who are constantly seeking "change" without a clear idea of what the change is that they desire. Some people have preyed on the emotions of those innocent people. They have transformed thier own personal agendas into nationalism&patriotism quite successfully. If the act of exploitaion wasn't so demeaning to the people of Maldives,I would actually congratulate them for sheer well-planned craftiness.People always reaslise the grave repercussions of thier actions later. Why can't we ever learn to think about the consequences of our actions before acting?I just hope the cost of this particular one would be one that we can somehow meet.
Let us consider this boy Evan Naseem that these people constantly flaunt in our face like he was some Martyr who died fighting for our nation or something.Reality check people-he was a convicted felon. His death ofcourse is sad & unwarranted. He did not deserve to die like that. But let us not forget that the police force also were simple dhivehi folk like us to begin with. There is a limit to thier patience & self control too.It is too bad that someone tried to test it&learnt the lesson the hard way.It is not a habit of mine nor my intention to speak evil of the dead, but I'm sure we have all heard of his "disposition".And no,I'm not talking about his drug abuse for which he was convicted.I'm talking about the physical abuse he meted out to fellow prisoners. Please don't pretend you haven't heard of it.There are people who still suffer emotionally for the physical trauma that they underwent under his hands.I'm saying he was a drug addict who was constantly in & out of jail.During these "visits",he had established a sort of gangster reputation in prison. You know how it is with all institutions-there is always an "inner hierarchy" there that everyone acknowledges&abides by.Evan Naseem had a habit of raping his fellow prisoners, young&old alike.Go ask around & find out for yourselves instead of simply buying the lies some people have been selling to you!The night he died,he had been constantly heckling the officers there, even resorting to spitting on them.Do not forget that they are all human & dhivehin underneath their uniforms.I agree that they are trained not to react under pressure&that they should have controlled their emotions. But the fact of the matter is,they simply lost it that.It is psychologically understandable. It was wrong & unfortunate that Evan Naseem died the way he did.I will not go&agree with those who say he deserved it,but the the truth is that there was no love lost between him&those who knew&recognised him for who he was.As for his mother,I wonder whether her grief is not clouded with another emotion?Guilt for disowning him&throwing him out of the house?Sadness for not been given a chance to make peace with her son before death?I feel for her-I really do-it must be horrifying to lose a child under those circumstances. But just because she is feeling bloodthirsty doesn't mean that it is going to bring back her son.Pointing accusatory fingers at everyone just because she is not reday to admit her failures in raising him is not going to help anything. The people who were directly involved have already been brought to justice. It is not her fault that her son was the beast that he grew up to be.It is not her fault that she kicked him out of the house in a fit of anger&frustration. Her son is with God now-He will surely grant him his due justice.Really come on,doesn't she want him to rest in peace without making a spectacle of herself?Or maybe that's it-this is her only way to remain in the public eye.The "grief striken mother of the martyr".If it is the case, woman, get a grip. Not all of us are blind&deaf! We can make our own judgements, thank you very much. She may scream with the help of the agents that help her for their own means, but there is no way that she can blame this on Gayoom. He is not responsible for the individual actions of each&everyone under his command. It was an accident-one that should not have happened. But it did.May God bless the grieved family&give them guidance.
Look at the situation in the country today. The rate of "maaraa maaree" associated with the so called "paateys" have gone dramatically down.So who is keeping them happy customers & how are they doing it?Where are the gang of thugs operating under the command of Yameen? Why aren't they out there wreaking havoc&punishing people for letting "the regime" down?Do you really think this would be the picure we would have seen if Gayoom had won?I wonder about those "kathi valhis" that had been sold out on the market place the eve of 26 October-are they rusting away in some hidden stash or are they still been kept well oiled for future use perhaps?Given a taste of the extent of these people's madness for power,I have a feeling it is the latter.Oh beloved fellow dhivehin, open your eyes to the truth that you have been avoiding.Ask your consciences whether "this trip" was really worth it.I'm sure the seeds of doubt have already started rooting in your hearts.
Today,I feel ashamed to be associated with a people who let a common crook win over a truly good man.We chose greed over honour. No amont of outward shows of compassion by Anni & self-acclaimed isalmic "saintly" backup [otherwsie known as Adhaalath]& banshee screaming [by the likes of people like u,Maria,Reeko Moosa etc] is going to make people who can still see&support the truth change our minds.Give the man a break for he is responsible for making you!Ask your grandparents about the very different Maldives that they had beheld. Is this how you pay your respects to 30 years of service?82,000 people are ready to vouch for Gayoom's integrity. We cannot & will not pay you or threaten you-that is not our style. We speak of our free will & accord. And today we appeal to your sense of righteousness.Surely you can all agree that Gayoom is the ONLY one person[who did use a cushion called "iththihaadh"]who has the the most support of the people-we can't all be mad&wrong. If you cannot bring yourselves to say thank you, leave the man his dignity at least. He deserves no less.It is our collective responsibility to at least ry to undo some of the wrongs that we have instigated &/or let happen.
God help our beloved wathan-please do not let us the hole we dug with our own hands be our destruction!

  73. Bush your efforts are not in vain.

Today reporters are asking DRP why are they silent, the media is taking up the issue.

Also Zaki is asking Radio stations to participate the public, to keep the public aware about the developments. They are calling on media to criticize.

Bush Gayoom did ask for forgiveness, if he had harmed anyone or caused injustice. Isn't the enough. What else do you want him to say. Do you want him to get on his knees and ask for forgiveness or want the this (forgive me) tattooed on his forehead.

  75. Dude this raises a serious Question.

Only one person from the local president's (MDP Atoll/Island/Gofi Presidents) was given a senior post in Anni's Administration, ie a presidential MP in the Parliament.

I wonder what Maria Didi, Zaki and Anni has to say about this?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Bush do us a favor.

Please compile a list of all appointees (including political Appointees) appointed by the president.

    somethin like ...

    Adhalath Party How many Appointees

    MDP How many Appointees

    Republican Party How many Appointees

    Independent People How many Appointees

New Maldives Party How many Appointees

liberal Party Party How many Appointees

    MNC Party How many Appointees

This needs to be checked caz, Anni has to rely his core competence in implementing the policies through the LOYAL MDP MEMBERS.

You can provide any addition info as well, like relatives, or friend of and so on. This could be good thing for MDP, to stay on the right path of good Governance with out getting in to nepotism and other despicable things we saw in Gayooms Government.

Any Media outlet pls do this ( for 5 years/ presidential term) and maintain the list, so that we can have a clean Government
and so they they will be on guard to stay clean as well.

  78. Hello Bushry,

Thanks for keeping up your blog. Mr.Nasheed has got what he aimed for and now that he has in President's chair, no wonder he will gradually forget us and go ahead with his own agenda.

I hear that he is going to employ some bunch of lousy guys to the ranks such as state ministers etc. I think Mr.Nasheed has to learn to be a little more authoritative and should not be influenced by anyone.

Mr.Nasheed, we will give you just 3months to show us signs of change. We do not expect you to perform miracles and bring whole lot of changes in overnight or in 3 months. But just clear signs will also suffice to prove that you are about to do something good.

We do appreciate cutting down the prices of fuel. Thank you for this.

Since the day one, you are trying to protect that dictator and in doing so you are proving to some extent that you are sort of controlled by him.

We hear this from the members of DRP as well that Gayoom is still in control.

Moreover, please ask TVM to adhere to fair journalism and bring us two sides of the coin. And please get some professionals working there.

WE WANT OUR STREETS TO BE CLEAN AND WE WANT TO WALK ON THESE STREETS WITHOUT FEAR.

    WHERE ARE THOSE PROMISES?

    Mr.President!
If we can not have the streets of Male' and other islands clean and safe for people to move around, then we do not expect you to be a good performer and all the love and respect you had in our hearts will be gone.

So as a first thing, please make Male' safe for all Maldivians.

You could be golhabo's lawyer, or golhabo himself, I don't give a shit about, who you are, bow down, pee and witness yourself.

You guys always had own agenda in front of you, like an erected male organ, that golhabo never thought he will ever have to be accounted. And he made him above the law, and promoted "no one above the law". While evan was murder brutally in the jail. Who was the chief of sifainge. Golhaa himself. He was playing one man show, many posts for him, sifainge veriya, raeesul jumooriyyaa, nasreenaa firmeehaa, al usthaz, etc... Like no body else has caliber to play such role. Fucker tried to berried evan's body secretly, if Evan was berried like other hundreds of people who were murdered and berried we might not have got this freedom. Evan’s mother has all the right to call for justice you will know if you have lost a dear one. If your so cold Golhabo is a good man he would have resigned when he was elected for the 5th term, then he should not have seen this evan case or what ever. So zip it. He is a basted I totally agree with Island Kid, simply give him to sharks

Golhabo is a name give buy the grate Sappe especially for you, will stick with it, Golhabo and with your OLD LADY.

bakari, never thought of a former president on his time, Cox he might have to give some credit to nasir, believe me you were a president on the time of old constitution, so was nasir, if you were given any thing nasir should be paid same amount for past 30 years as well.

finally, I have to say, we are not the people who are going to put law in to our hands and act like prosecutors, will bring you to justice, so was other dictators like saddam husain who was elected by 100%, then you will say iraqe's were nut-heads at that time. . we have witnessed how fair our previous elections were from the last election result….Simply not true. Give me a break.

  88. Fantastic and a very true comment (however long it may be) by "Theduveri Dhivehi Dhariyeh" - although I totally disagree that bringing down Maumoon still is a bad thing.

He had to come down. Period!

Mistake still is the coalition. Not Anni either. He's a good man who is becoming bad ... and probably rotten very soon if good check and balances by the people are not put in place.

Adhaalath has already stated showing its Afghan/Pakistan Taliban mentality at the mosques. Just listen to the preachings at Friday prayers now. I just hope we don't end up as a Taliban state very soon. Fearful with the kind of stupid mentality that Maldivians carry with them. People are throwing away harmless bottles of Taza water just 'cas supposedly there is "cross" on it somewhere. I've not even see it yet.

Qasim & his puppet kid Sawad are hijacking the Trade & Travel industry. Very soon the 99 year lease agreement will be passed and who wins. The ALREADY rich dudes. So that bill WILL pass, no matter what. The Island Kid who wants to become rich by working hard will never stand a chance now.

I'll keep on repeating. Fellow Maldivians (only those with a brain enuf to think however) PLEASE DO NOT VOTE for a Majlis candidate who look to have backing from a corrupt businessman. It's very easy to identify too. Only vote for those blokes who look dirt poor. They are the dudes who'll do something good for you.

Anni in the 1st round of the elections WAS such a dude. When it came to Golhaa and Him alone it was not him alone (but the league of extraordinarily corrupt gentlemen & their terrorist counterparts)

We voted for this league. And heaven help us all.

btw, dude, whats with this multiple posting? please don't do that. if it's something to do with the keyboard pls replace it asap. kinda annoying.

ps: however controversial I still support the "kuda-sitee" approach. until this whole population congestation fiasco comes to a close. we'll all be happier then.

  89. Do you think Maldives is a functioning democracy?

Freedom House Report on Maldives 2008.

    Political Rights Score: 6
    Civil Liberties Score: 5
    Status: Not Free
    Overview

Progress toward multiparty elections remained slow in 2007, with the Special Majlis failing to meet a November deadline for completing constitutional amendments. Although the year featured the launch of the country’s first private radio stations, a more assertive stance by the Maldives Human Rights Commission, and freer private discussion, the government continued to restrict freedom of speech and assembly, detain opposition politicians, and commit various human rights violations.

The Maldives achieved independence in 1965 after 78 years as a British protectorate, and a 1968 referendum replaced the centuries-old ad-Din sultanate with a republican system. The Maldives’ first president, Amir Ibrahim Nasir, held office for 10 years. He was succeeded by current president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who in 1978 won his first five-year term under the country’s tightly controlled presidential referendum process.

In September 2003, riots broke out after prison guards beat an inmate to death. In response, Gayoom initiated a series of political reforms. Elections were held in May 2004 for a People’s Special Majlis (PSM)—composed of the 50 members of the ordinary People’s Majlis (parliament), 50 members elected or appointed specifically to the PSM, and the cabinet—that was tasked with amending the constitution. Over the subsequent years, positive changes to the legislative, judicial, and media frameworks occurred slowly, interspersed with bouts of unrest, crackdowns on the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), and restrictions on freedom of expression.

In January 2005 parliamentary elections, candidates affiliated with the MDP won 18 of the 42 contested seats, while government-backed candidates won 22 and independents took 2. The balloting was relatively free of violence, but several MDP activists were arrested prior to and on election day.

The parliament in June 2005 passed legislation allowing political parties to register and contest elections for the first time. Nevertheless, MDP leaders continued to face arrests, beatings, and prosecutions. When the MDP planned nationwide demonstrations in November 2006, the government arrested more than 100 people in a preemptive crackdown, restricting media freedom and movement into the capital. Though most detainees were released, the attorney general announced in May 2007 that 17 men, including senior MDP members, would face trial for traveling by boat to join the protests.

The government and lawmakers in 2007 focused on completing constitutional amendments by a November deadline. Though the changes remained incomplete at year’s end, the Special Majlis approved several chapters that appeared to improve on existing rights guarantees. Politics remained polarized, though members of the president’s Maldivian People’s Party (DRP) voted sporadically with the opposition in the Special Majlis. In a major shake-up over the summer, the justice minister, attorney general, and foreign minister resigned over what they said were government obstructions to reform.

The Maldives experienced its first terrorist attack in September 2007, when a bomb exploded in the capital, injuring 12 tourists. In the aftermath, three men were convicted for the attack, and security forces arrested 63 people in a showdown at an unofficial mosque on Himandhoo island.

    Political Rights and Civil Liberties

The Republic of Maldives is not an electoral democracy. The People’s Majlis (parliament) chooses a single presidential nominee, who is then approved by a national referendum for a five-year term. Forty-two members of the 50-seat Majlis are directly elected for five-year terms. The president appoints the other eight members, the Majlis speaker and deputy speaker, and the atoll chiefs, who are responsible for local governance. While the president controls most government decisions, the Majlis has in recent years held livelier debates and passed reform legislation.

As part of the ongoing reform process, voters in an August 2007 referendum chose a presidential system over a parliamentary one. Despite some irregularities and opposition accusations of vote rigging, observers deemed the poll to have been the country’s fairest to date. In October, elections were held for local Island Development Committees (IDCs) for the first time, but their significance was mitigated by the administering committee’s lack of independence and the IDCs’ limited authority compared with the appointed atoll chiefs.

Until June 2005, political parties were discouraged, and Majlis candidates were required to run as individuals. Since then, five parties have registered: the ruling DRP, the opposition MDP, two Islamic-oriented parties, and the newer Maldives National Council (MNC). MDP supporters have been able to organize more rallies and discussions, but continue to face occasional arrest, detention, and beatings. MDP leader Mohamed Nasheed, who spent much of 2006 under house arrest on charges of terrorism and sedition, was temporarily detained and beaten by police several times in 2007.

Government accountability is limited by the executive branch’s almost complete control over the legislature and judiciary. However, an anticorruption board investigates graft allegations and refers cases to the attorney general. The Maldives was ranked 84 out of 180 countries surveyed in Transparency International’s 2007 Corruption Perceptions Index.

In recent years, a modest easing of restrictions on the media has been offset by crackdowns and harassment of journalists. Though regulatory changes in January 2007 dramatically reduced damages for defamation, the legal environment remains harsh, and two significant media reform bills were withdrawn during the year. Many journalists practice self-censorship and do not scrutinize official policies. Since a 2005 law liberalized the registration process, 6 daily newspapers, 15 magazines, and 70 other publications have been registered. Most are owned by government allies, but some have adopted a critical, balanced tone, and the independent Dhivehi-language Minivan Daily, which started as an online publication, now circulates in print. In 2007, the country’s first private broadcasters—Capital FM radio, DhiFM radio, and Atoll TV—were launched through individual agreements with the government as opposed to new broadcasting legislation, limiting their independence. The more overtly antigovernment Minivan Radio was unable to obtain a frequency due to prohibitive registration costs. Internet access was less restricted than in past years, but the pro-opposition Dhivehi Observer website remained blocked.

Journalists remain subject to arrest or harassment. In 2007, reporters and photographers from both pro-opposition and state-owned outlets were arrested while covering protests, illegal prayer meetings, and a taxi-driver strike. Minivan has been particularly targeted for official intimidation. In January 2007, a foreign reporter for the English-language online publication Minivan News was expelled and banned for two years. At year’s end, Minivan Daily editor Aminath Najeeb faced potential jail time, and journalist Abdullah Saeed continued to serve a long prison sentence after being convicted in 2006 of apparently fabricated drug charges.

Freedom of religion is severely restricted. Islam is the state religion, and all citizens are required to be Sunni Muslims. Non-Muslim foreigners are allowed to practice their religions only privately. Ostensibly to prevent fundamentalist beliefs from spreading, imams must use government-approved sermons. Following a bombing in September 2007, President Gayoom issued decrees prohibiting speeches by foreign clerics, criminalizing “words or actions likely to encourage extremism,” banning the full veil, and limiting any form of veil on television. There were no reported limitations on academic freedom, but many scholars self-censor. Maldivians were palpably freer in 2007 than in the past to discuss politically sensitive issues in public places.

The government limits freedoms of assembly and association. In recent years, police have used excessive force to break up demonstrations. According to the Maldives Human Rights Commission (MHRC), in a March 2007 incident in Kibidhoo, police suppressed protests against local officials using iron finger rings, including on children and the elderly. However, there were no reports in 2007 of harassment of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). The NGO Maldivian Detainee Network has been allowed to register and receive funding from the Australian government, and the MHRC, which was reconstituted in 2006, was increasingly assertive in 2007. Though the president appoints its members, the body issued several highly critical reports on police violence against protesters and detainees.

Workers lack the legal right to form trade unions, stage strikes, or bargain collectively. In practice, no unions exist, but some workers have established informal associations to address labor issues. In June 2007, police arrested at least eight organizers of a three-day strike by taxi drivers to protest rising fuel prices.

Because the president can review high-court decisions and the judicial service commission’s authority is very limited, the judiciary “lacks independence,” according to a 2007 report by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers. Civil law is used in most cases, but it is subordinate to Sharia (Islamic law), which is applied in matters not covered by civil law and in cases involving divorce or adultery. As a result, the testimony of two women is equal to that of one man, and punishments such as flogging and banishment to a remote island continue to be carried out.

Human rights groups allege that the National Security Service acts with virtual impunity. Incidents of torture or other forms of ill-treatment at police stations and prisons continue to be reported and, as in the case of the apparent death from police abuse of drug addict Hussein Salah in April 2007, to spark protests. Arbitrary arrest and prolonged detention without adequate judicial review remain a concern. The government has in recent years detained political prisoners for months at a time, and some have been sentenced to long prison terms.

The government exercises pervasive influence over access to health care, employment, and educational opportunities for most Maldivians, and it dominates both the public sector and many civil society groups, particularly in the outer atolls.

More women are entering the civil service and increasingly receiving pay equal to that of men, though traditional norms still limit opportunities for many women. Women enjoy a 98 percent literacy rate. In July 2007, the country’s first two female judges were appointed, despite opposition from some Islamic groups.

  90. Hey mice don't you know when to paste a URL rather than paste a bullshit long document - that is obviously NOT even from you?

Wish blogspot had a max. letter count function in the comment area.

Sheesh! Grow a brain and write about your own ideas rather than bog other peoples blogs.

  91. Mistake still is the coalition. Not Anni either. He's a good man who is becoming bad ..

island kid. help me to figure out how we could have ousted this DICKtator
Gayoom in the second round without the backing of the other parties.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hey Island Kid can you please be specific on the exact time and date when Anni will become bad.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't disagree with you Anonymous on what you stated. That is a fact. But a sad fact indeed. Things would have been a totally different story if Anni had won the 1st round of the elections.

And mice, ask yourself this. How long does it take for an egg to become rotten? Depends on the conditions surrounding it right? Sometimes very soon, sometimes a lot longer.

And since you did not seem to READ what I wrote either let me again reiterate - "... rotten very soon if good checks and balances by the people are not put in place"

Hope you saw that & read it right this time.

Busry and a number of others are doing a good job just to keep this balance in check. The contribution certainly does count.

island kid. this is a very uphill task now to get rid of the corrupt tycoons around. mostly the big 3 stooges. Koli/burumaa/champaa..
this trio has so much of wealth and just like the dicator these 3 guys will never allow the public to see their back.
with dictators horific 30 years has put us back a good 30 years. that is if only we ever recover from this mess..

  96. I'm so surprised by the naivety of fellow Maldivians. And university "educated" Maldivians too.

Just today I was talking to a friend and he was telling me about the good changes coming to the Maldives already. Especially how Anni has brought the price of petrol down so much. I nearly died laughing.

Crude is down today to USD49 from USD52 (as of yesterday) - I think I made a comment about this even earlier because someone said the same thing here.

Got help us all. Educate these brain dead Maldivians and let them see clearly what is happening in their respective backyards.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yes, anonymous, that is true. But what you are talking about is the economical side of things for the poor Maldivians. I'm also very worried about the justice system and the fairness of treating people and their respective rights.

See we should also fight to get rid of all the earlier Maumoon regime crooks who are like parasites infesting the cabinet & the parliament. Shady characters such as Jameel, Shaheed & Hassan Saeed (my dislike for these characters are very open as you see from my comments but I'm trying to refrain from calling the guy Ran'du Saeed as a number of commenters here seem to be in love with him)

Dhiyana (lolly's "wife") is probably one of the worst people to be appointed as AG. I'm pretty sure with a thieving husband like him behind her a lot of people are going to lose so much they have tried to earn honestly.

I'm also pretty sure that with an invalid like the current Education Minister our young too are going to suffer as well.

I'm sure a few of you are going to ask me 'Can Anni do no good at all?' - the quick answer would be YES, 'cas he's weakened the whole system with people who are corrupt and the rest of the folks look more like mismanagers than managers. And proven people at mismanagement too.

For a longer answer I'd urge you to wait and see for yourself.

  99. Actually I can - if you understand the correlation between the two in the world market today. And yes, the price of petrol still will wary in different countries. Take into consideration the type of gas sold as well, leaded, unleaded, eco-friendly, filtered, etc.

But you are wrong in your statement that when talking of fuel prices I can take the example of global crude prices.

"Seem Maldives Is not doing So bad" - you don't know that in some of the European countries they do not sell the unfiltered shitty crap they sell here do you? Learn a bit please. It's good for you. Just don't copy and paste from the Internet. That's the worst type of ignorance.

    ReplyDelete
  100. hehe have you ever been to a gas station in Male'.. what do they say about Leaded and unleaded on the pumps. Please read it next time you go there.

So you think they are mixing pertol with Rihaakuru or saltwater huh. Tell us about it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Eco friendly petrol and filtered petrol... Geee thats new, are you selling those stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Dont expect the crude to stay at that low level, when world economy improves from the mess, the crude oil prices will pick up again. Forecast is during 2009 it will start to raise again.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well, that was very productive. Just 'cas you got it all wrong. I never said anything about the gas sold here. I was talking about the price of petrol.

And that ridiculous price chart you put up would confuse anyone who does not understand taxing, public transportation in countries, mileage, additives added based on climates, economy laws & pollutants, and so many other external entities that are based on the laws of a country. These bring up the price of gas my friend.

Starting to get why it's so cheap here?

And mice, based on current forecasts if the global economy stays the way it is today, crude can come down to USD30 even within the next 6-9 months.

I'm glad I got you to start educating yourself. Research. Read & think.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Besides the whole point is that Anni had nothing to do with the low price of petrol in this country right?

Very true. And petrol or 'gas' is a mixture of other compounds as I understand. So yes I suppose there can be many qualities of this sold on the open market.

good talk... lets hope this manner of blogtalk(?) proves to be a worthwhile education to others who visit this blog as well ....

here's a new blog- http://falaah.net/ ... todays generation needs to become more vocal, self-assertive (even if it may not always make sense) ... it can be quite the learnin experience, and enriching for this county as well..

In between work I always keep the blogs I comment and contribute to open so it's easy to drop a comment fast.

Still, like you say this is a good educational experience.

And staying anonymous does have its advantages. When I want to become president or a Majlis member I'll come out into the open. ;) Hehehehe!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Bush could you put some pointers how the Tourism Act could change under the current regime. With Republicans having a major stake in the government, one cannot help but wonder how these business tycoons and resort owners would change the law towards their advantage and undermine their social responsibility and public welfare. Already rumor has it that they are going to change the current leasing period of resorts to 99 years. If it gets enacted; would it be beneficial to the public and the business community, likewise.

What are the pro’s and cons of extending the leasing period to 99 years?

You may also recall the conflict of interest that MDP raised during the campaign period. Tables may have changed but the cards are the same, so the issue will likely raise when they try to amend.

keep up the good word bro

i strongly disagree with some of the things you hav stated over the course of the last few days.... but in the interest of not spoiling something as rare as a young guy takin the time to talk about the 'issues', i wud refer it to future intellectual encounters.....

Soon the country will get a bad name. And most Maldivians will be denied scholarships and even denied visa

    ReplyDelete
  121. Fair enough Mashuni. However you have already made a no. of assumptions. For eg. your assumption on my age as someone else has pointed out. I could just simply be lying about a lot of things to hide my identity from the ppl who are very close to me and understand me better than u.

And believe me I do not leave behind comments other than always using Island Kid. It's good to leave a trail, however ridiculous you may think my judgment based on something else is.

I'm pretty good at recognizing human nature and patterns as well; but I would refute that I would understand people that easily, especially over a blog comment area.

Understand that we could very well be wrong about a lot of things, but try to assume that we always are right. Believe me, I've learnt that the hard way.

Besides there is no point to it. All I'm trying to do is educate the masses - my way ;) Some of you may already say GOD HELP US ALL!

More importantly these comments are not to make all you guys accountable; these are comments to educate the ppl to become more open about the terrible issues arising from our stupid decisions - like giving people power without knowing they will very soon abuse it for personal gain. So my personal judgment already on Anni is becoming questionable!

Not a good sign eh? And I'm already starting to feel dumber ;)

    ReplyDelete
  122. ive forgotten.whats the real issue we were talking about here?

    ReplyDelete
  123. hahaha fair enuff..... :P

i don't disagree with anything u hav said just now..... not in the least!

i find it distasteful that in one comment u seem to make lotta sense and in the next u start calling hassan saeed a 'rundi; i find this to be a paradox, not becos im in lov with hassan , but becos its self-contradictory to the culture of rational discourse u seem to be tryin to foster hehe.... wot relevance does hassan saeeds phenotypia hav to his political deviations???....

ur equation of islanders with the expatriate workforce that loiter around male', i found extremely disturbing..... how do u figure dumping the islander into their own islands will solve anything??? what do u think makes them come here in the first place???...... is it not the lack of basic services in the outer islands tat is the issue here, that u need to educate people about???....a paradox on ur part aint it?... just lik ur pen name i guess....

but wot u said just now, its all good... cudnt agree more, cudnt hv said it better.

    cheerio

    ReplyDelete
  124. wot relevance does hassan saeeds phenotypia hav to his political deviations???....

Yes no relevance,if he is on your side.If he is on govt side, its relevant eh?

So may I ask you what relevance does age and gender have about comments

    ReplyDelete
  125. sorry I mean maumoon side

    ReplyDelete
  126. Island kid,

Terrible issues arise from our stupidity is because we view every issue from one perspective.During the elections, the people(54 percent) were obsessed with the 'removal of Maumoonu' aspect athought the nature of elections dictate that 'removal' and 'appointment' go hand in hand. Both aspects have to be given considerations.

Like the way many Maldivians get married with only one thing in mind and its later they realise that marriage has its own package like bills and babies and start shouting 'Oh my God,I didnt know about this' heheh

If you didnt want Anni, you all could have disqualified him in MDP primaries. But that was rigged eh?

    ReplyDelete
  127. "Yes no relevance,if he is on your side.If he is on govt side, its relevant eh? "...... yes thrz a word for that- demagoguery!!...lol thanx fr proving my point again!

age? woman?... hu said it was relevant?...ru tryin to drop the misogyny bomb on me again??? hahaha...... what is relevant to me is YOU- the person... not ur age, ur sex, ur bra size, ur gait, ur physique.... wot is relevant to me is wot u say, wot u beliv, ur actions.... n u'v proved urself very well to me whr u score on these relevant points!! mhehe

heheh u kno, if u can't think of something constructive to say, then jus shut it... fr ur sake heeeeeeeheeeee

i kno that u (quote-unquote) "crave conversation"...... but ru enjoyin this as much as me n my frnds here are?!

    hehehehe

    ReplyDelete
  128. now thats more like it

    ReplyDelete
  129. So I am anony mice eh? Tell me my name

    ReplyDelete
  130. Sometimes I jest, mashuni ;)

And I'm no saint either, nor the savior of ALL Maldivians. That'll be the day!

Hassan Saeed & his other crooked crony doctors I dislike specifically because of their political nature. Have you forgotten that these 3 were the holding force behind a pole that was rather weak (but which had already demonstrated to wreak havoc for the poor Maldivian), namely a murderous dictator. Have you forgotten that these 3 (especially Saeed) ridiculed Anni and MDP so much & so often while they were DRP. And have you also forgotten that it was the trio who changed faces very easily when they fell from grace with the good dictator.

Whose to say they will not do the same to Anni very soon? Hope you are happy I refrained from calling Hassan Saeed a sissy name ;)

I'm pretty sure they'll so that very soon as soon as a dispute arises. I told you I can read human patters & nature too. But this warrants no such esp or whatever you call it.

And yeah, anonymous, me and a number of others seriously fckd up by getting this coalition in place. But what was the alternative? So way i see it, right now it's a no-win situation. Now just trying to see if somethings can at least be fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Island-kid, that's what i implied by " his political DEVIATIONS"..... thats me acknowledging his shady side...

    ReplyDelete
  132. My bad ... missed that! But the argument still stands and I find the guy & his political buddies repulsive, to say the least. I'm trying to garner a system of justice, and these are the forces that would oppose it. You would hopefully know that egomania & self-righteousness are very dangerous elements when one becomes a politician.

    ReplyDelete
  133. ... and I don't intend to hide the fact that I find these elements distasteful. Does that answer your original question?

I'd urge Anni to kick these elements out ASAP - including Qasim, Sawad, the Adhaalath clowns. Not because I said so (that'll be silly), but because that's the only way the people can get anything out of this new government.

    ReplyDelete

75% or more of the contries wealth is controled by 10 to 15 guys. Half of them in the parliment and the other half has their puppets in the front line. corruption is so deep rooted it may not be possible for ANNI to throw any of three stooges and his bagage from the unfortunate coalition..
lets wait until Bank of Maldives audit report is out. if Anni cant bring the guys to justice after that his controlled is lost and the corrupt thugs are in control of this country and economy..

Pls try to write some articles in Dhivehi as well.Cos now it seems that u are the man who can bring good articles to the public. We had hope on Anni before, but now we are hopeless on him.He can bring no chnages to Maldives.Among those who supported Anni before election ,90% of them hate him now.Now we have found that he was running after power.Instead of becoming Mandela,he will sure become Mugabe and wil be more dangerous than Qayyoom for Maldivians. We are ready to fight for u if u are willing to stand for the next Majilis Election.

he has so much of Xcess baggage to carry with him when he took over the office.unfortunately for the public he is fighting a loose/loose battle.
too much resistence from the corrupt vultures around him and also cant trim down the unwanted thousands of govt. workers.
next 6 months will see lots of changes i guess...

We know Anni is now satisfied now that he is president. but we are not. we want torturers to be held responsible for their crimes. we will express our views. We dont give a damn about what anni says.
Please dont try to interfere in our business of expressing our views. Dont behave like Maumoon and Mugabe.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Obviously, Anni and MDP don't have power to bring justice and equity immediately, but the frustrated will become vulnerable to religious extremism which makes Holy their desire for violence. Don't forget, preachers can now give sermons impromptu. Majid will try licencing only non violent preachers and their will be limits to the impromptu part (talk of violence will be off bounds) but one or two will slip through the radar and hype up those who will flock to him to hear that Allah will reward their violence. If Anni does not administer justice, Islamic extremism and the threat of terrorism is going to become a bigger problem than it already is. I hope someone reads this and warns Anni, because if Maldives becomes like Pakistan it means the the most peaceful society on the planet will be a thing of a tragic past. Please, do justice Anni and don't allow extremists to exploit your lack of justice or extremists will ruin beautiful Maldives.

  157. the guy who talks about root cause of the youth just answer me, Is it the parents who provide them with drugs?

After Eevan Naseem's death, there was the usual Majlis election to decide whether Maumoonu can stand for presidency and he won it.Those who voted for him includes many MDP members who today still go back to Evan Naseem case to discredit Maumoonu.

So pls go and ask them.If they dont remember prescribe some memory loss pills

  159. Nasheed cant stop our mouth, we should even call to nasheed Bulhlhabey, we vote for change not to Nasheed........we want Golhabo bring to justic Mr Nasheed. Iththihaad members should force Nasheed to respect majority of this country. Not for Golhabo and his family.
